Slovenian Championships? No, World Cup final in Planica. But this weekend clearly belonged to the Slovenian ski jumping team! On day one they managed a 4-fold victory, on day two the team victory and on day three the places 3 - 6. We take our hats off!
Friday - Individual Jumping
Ziga Jelar secured the first World Cup victory of his career and the Slovenian succeeded not only in front of his home crowd, but also in the best company of his teammates. Peter Prevc, Anze Lanisek and Timi Zajc were ranked 2-4.
Saturday - Team Jumping
The Slovenian festival continued also in the team competition. The hosts jumped to victory quite sovereignly in spring temperatures. The previous day's quartet won ahead of the team from Norway and Team Austria.
Sunday- Individual Jumping
Final - and the only competition in Planica with a non-Slovenian winner! Because in the last jumping event Norwegian Marius Lindvik prevailed. Strong second was surprisingly the Japanese Yuki Sato ahead of Peter Prevc. Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi finished eighth and thus secured the overall World Cup, because his biggest rival, DSV eagle Karl Geiger, only managed a 16th place.
