The German athletes are the big winners at the first World Championship weekend in Innsbruck.
First of all it was Markus Eisenbichler who won the competition on Saturday. The now defending World Champion was thus able to celebrate his first world cup win. Silver went to his team mate Karl Geiger, bronze was taken by Swiss Killian Peier.
After this result it was no wonder Germany would be the ones to beat during the team competition. This proved however impossible. With almost 50 points advance the German team claimed the title with Austria and Japan behind them on the podium.
The World Championships will continue on the smaller hill of Seefeld in the next days with one individual competition and one mixed team competition scheduled.go back
