Kobayashi ends Prevc‘s winning streak in Engelberg
Domen Prevc got off to another strong start at the World Cup weekend in Engelberg on Saturday, celebrating his fifth consecutive victory. Felix Hoffmann finished second, securing his second World Cup podium finish after Lillehammer. Third place went to Japan's Ren Nikaido. Ryoyu Kobayashi failed to impress on the day, jumping no further than 131 meters and falling back to sixth place.

On Sunday, Kobayashi turned things around and won the last World Cup event before the Four Hills Tournament in convincingly. With 310 points, the Japanese athlete celebrated his 37th World Cup victory, ending Prevc's streak. After five consecutive victories, Prevc had to settle for second place, while Felix Hoffmann once again completed the podium.

The competition on the Groß-Titlis-Schanze was marked by changeable wind conditions, which caused numerous interruptions in the first round. At one point, everything pointed to a duel between Prevc and Philipp Raimund from Oberstdorf, who were tied for the lead. In the final, Raimund was unable to hold his position and fell back to fourth place after jumping 132.5 meters. Hoffmann made the most of the conditions and reached the podium for the third time this winter.

Behind the top four, Kacper Tomasiak made a mark from a Polish perspective: with fifth place, he achieved his best World Cup result. Stephan Embacher set a new hill record with 145 meters, but had to settle for eighth place.

Several rule violations also drew attention: American Erik Belshaw was disqualified in the first round for wearing a jumpsuit that was too large. Mihnea Alexandru Spulber had already received a red card in the qualification round and will therefore also miss the first two stages of the Four Hills Tournament.

After the World Cup weekend, the ski jumpers will only take a short Christmas break. Training and qualification will start in Oberstdorf on December 28, before the opening jump of the Four Hills Tournament is scheduled for December 29.
