Domen Prevc wins the opening event of the Four Hills Tournament
Domen Prevc wins the first competition of the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf. Defending champion Daniel Tschofenig finished second, while Germany’s Felix Hoffmann completed the podium in third place.

The opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf has been decided and provided a thrilling event for the 25,500 spectators in the sold-out Schattenberg Arena. Slovenian ski jumper Domen Prevc continued his strong form and celebrated another victory at the start of the Tournament. With jumps of 141.5 and 140 metres, he claimed his sixth World Cup win of the season.
Daniel Tschofenig showed excellent form just in time for the Four Hills Tournament. After slightly weaker results in recent competitions, the Austrian ski jumper returned to the top with jumps of 132 and 134 metres to finish in a strong second place. In the overall score, he was 17.5 points behind the winner.
Daniel Tschofenig after his second place: “What a cool day! I'm really happy. I've worked hard, looked at a lot of things and worked closely with the coaching team. I'm now heading to Garmisch with confidence.”

There was also great joy for the German fans. Felix Hoffmann celebrated third place in front of the home crowd and stepped onto the podium. After the final round, the German athlete was initially ranked fourth, as Slovenia’s Timi Zajc was tied on points with Tschofenig for second place after jumps of 133.5 and 138 metres. However, due to the stricter equipment controls introduced this season, Zajc was disqualified by chief equipment controller Matthias Hafele because his suit was three millimetres too large at the leg. As a result, Hoffmann moved up to third place.
Felix Hoffmann on coming third: 'Fortunately, I was able to join the podium for the awards ceremony today. That was the icing on the cake for today's competition. I'm really happy that I was able to deliver consistently good jumps in the competition. The audience and Philipp's jump before me clearly inspired me today!”
