Day 1 of ski flying in Oberstdorf has held a surprise winner: Timi Zajc from Slovenia got his first win in his first ski flying competition.
After the first round the Polish Kamil Stoch had been in the lead with team mate Piotr Zyla and the Austrian Stefan Kraft on his tales. Difficult wind conditions in the final round brought disorder into the ranking, though: Timi Zajc ended up on top as the lucky winner, but another Polish jumper was able to profit: Dawid Kubacki secured a second rank. Markus Eisenbichler completed the podium, quite to the joy of the German audience of Oberstdorf.
