Kobayashi surprises in Wisla

The Japanese won ahead of Kamil Stoch (POL) and Stefan Kraft (AUT). Norway took the win in Saturday’s team competition.

The first single competition on Sunday ended with a big surprise. With jumps up to 124 and 126.5 meters Junshiro Kobayashi won the first World Cup of the new season and the first one in his career. In an exciting final round, the Japanese finished on top and could beat the favourites Kamil Stoch and Stefan Kraft.

Richard Freitag (GER), who was in the  lead after the first round, had tough wind conditions in his second jump and could only reach the fourth place.

 

The first team competiton of the season took place on Saturday. Team Norway managed to show the best overall team performance. Johann Andre Forfang, Anders Fannemel, Daniel Andre Tande and Robert Johansson finished ahead of the teams from Poland and Austria. The German team had to live with the fourth place this time.
