Team Austria and Lindvik succeed in Zakopane

The ski jumping elite met for the World Cup in Zakopane, Poland, this weekend. The team event was won by the Austrians, the individual victory was celebrated by Marius Lindvik.

Saturday - Team competition

The team event on Saturday had a surprising winner. Team Austria prevailed ahead of the Poles and Norwegians. The quartet around Michael Hayböck, Jan Hörl, Philipp Aschenwald and Daniel Huber showed constantly strong jumps and secured the victory. The Polish team, on the other hand, just missed the home success because Andrzej Stekala showed a weaker second jump (115.5 meters). The Norwegians with overall World Cup leader Halvor Egner Granerud finished in third place. The German team with Markus Eisenbichler, Karl Geiger, Severin Freund and Pius Paschke had a bad day and finished 6th.

Sunday - individual competition

With 144.5 meters Marius Lindvik showed the longest jump of the day on Saturday and underlined his ambitions for the individual victory. The Norwegian fulfilled his expectations on Sunday and managed a jump of 145.5 meters - again the longest in the competition! But also Anze Lanisek stood up to Lindvik with 143.5 meters in the second round. With a gap of 2.3 points the Slovenian finished in second place. With Robert Johansson another Norwegian completed the podium. Markus Eisenbichler was the best German in 8th place. Overall leader Halvor Egner Granerud was only 23rd, Tournament winner Kamil Stoch finished 11th.
