2020-02-10 · 11:04

With two great jumps Stephan Leyhe secured his first World Cup victory in front of his home audience in Willingen on Saturday. Marius Lindvik and Kamil Stoch are also convincing and finish second and third.

The World Cup weekend in Willingen and the special ranking „Willingen-5"; was marked by a heavy storm that swept over Germany. Already on Friday, after a long wait, the training and qualification had to be cancelled. The qualification was postponed to Saturday and already here Stephan Leyhe showed his strong form and won ahead of Stefan Kraft and Timi Zajc.

At the competition Kamil Stoch was leading at half time, but local hero Stephan Leyhe secured his first World Cup victory of his career with a jump to 144m on second round. For the Pole Stoch it was enough for third place in the end, behind Marius Lindvik.

In addition to Stephan Leyhe, who won the race on his home hill in front of a sold-out crowd, Karl Geiger was also pleased with a good fifth place. The Austrians also made a particularly strong showing. Overall World Cup leader Stefan Kraft just missed the podium and finished fourth. Gregor Schlierenzauer also confirmed his rising form and secured a top 10 result.

Due to a storm warning, the second jumping competition scheduled for Sunday had to be cancelled. Thus Leyhe also secured the additional valuation of the „Willingen-5".

Next weekend, the first ski flying of the season will take place in Bad Mitterndorf, Austria.
